Every night it's the same. Without fail, and without explanation, at 1:34 a.m. n the dot Elena, Matt, and Tima wake up. It's messing them up and fracturing their lives . . . until they venture out into the dark and find each other.

And there they discover something remarkable: each of them has the power to communicate with animals. Which is just as well, because they're going to need all the help they can get. Something else is out there in the shadows, watching them, waiting for the right moment to strike . . .
