Twelve-year-old identical twins Peter and Kai come from a long line of history buffs and artifact collectors. When their family decides to visit Grandma for the summer, Kai is thrilled for the chance to play with her collection of ancient weapons. Peter, on the other hand, is hoping for a quiet vacation—without any bright ideas from his reckless twin brother.

But when the boys take a trip to the local lighthouse, the accidentally unleash a creature determined to sink the entire island. Suddenly Peter and Kai's summer plans fly out the window. With the help of their family, the boys are forced to confront an ancient power, unravel an ancient mystery, and save Seaspire, Massachusetts from sinking into the Atlantic.
